1 Thessalonians 5:18
Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
What does it mean as a Christian to give thanks to God? I thought about that this week as I knew I would be writing this blog post. I felt stuck when I put my pen to the paper. I mean I love the Lord with all my heart and I’m so thankful for my family, for my friends, for my life, and for HIM most importantly. So I dug deeper and did a little searching in my studies.
Starting with a few scriptures Psalm 107:1 Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! For his mercies endure forever. Ephesians 5:20 says this… always giving thanks to God the father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Giving thanks is so easy in the good times but what about the hard times? I feel like it’s so easy to focus on my pains and trials that I can easily lose sight of who he is and what he’s already done for me, and what he will continue to do for me. That’s why an attitude of gratitude is so so important. I
t draws me closer to him with a renewed sense of strength and power. Gratitude and Thanksgiving helps me to shift my focus on to God and away from my circumstances. Gratitude helps me to trust him when things look uncertain. Gratitude supersedes anxiety with peace. Even if I’m not feeling it in the moment , choosing to express Gratitude with my words will eventually become a reality in my heart. Not only that but gratitude rejuvenates me spiritually, physically, and emotionally. So let’s practice having a Grateful /Thankful heart not just on Thanksgiving but everyday. Put your pen to that paper and start counting your blessings!! This is Gods will for us ??❤️
